It’s news we expected, but it’s still hard to hear: Halloween Kills will no longer release this Halloween, but will instead hit theatres on October 15th, 2021. As a result, Halloween Ends, which was originally slated to release next Halloween, has also been pushed back a year, and will now release October 14th, 2022.
“If we release [Halloween Kills] in October of this year as planned, we have to face the reality that the film would be consumed in a compromised theatrical experience,” John Carpenter and director David Gordon Green explained in an official statement. “After weighing our options, we have chosen to push the film’s theatrical release by one year.”
This makes sense—we don’t know about you, but we think Michael deserves the big-screen experience during the Halloween season, and we’d rather enjoy his next rampage at a time when it’s safe to do so. In the meantime, take a look at the newly released teaser that hints at how the masked killer escaped from the inferno!
