After starring in last year’s excellent The Girl With All The Gifts, it seems as though Glenn Close has garnered a taste for the undead. The actress, who has starred in various films across multiple genres, has joined the cast of Amazon’s pilot for Sea Oak.
Sea Oak stars Close in the role of Aunt Bernie, “a meek working-class woman”, who is killed during a home invasion. However, her dissatisfaction with her short and forgettable time one earth forces her back to life, determined to make the most of her second chance.
The show is described as a mix of zombie drama and revenge comedy, so expect the horror to come hand-in-hand with a generous helping of humour.
Zomedies will always be all the rage and this one’s addition of “revenge” and the A-list star in Close, bodes extremely well for this horror-comedy. Perhaps it will rival Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet, which too, is a comedic and gory blend of undead action and family drama.
Sea Oak has been written by George Saunders, who also wrote the novel the story is based on, and was picked up by Amazon in March. More as it comes!
