We’ll say this for FX and Hulu; they’re fantastic at teasing the audience.
Alien: Earth is set to premiere this summer, the first small-screen venture for the legendary sci-fi series. With the Alien property roaring back to life due to 2024’s Alien: Romulus, fans are dying to get an extended look at the upcoming show.
However, FX and Hulu have drip-fed us looks at Alien: Earth over the past several months. We’ve yet to see a trailer for the series that exceeds thirty seconds, consequently, we’ve glimpsed very little of what’s in store.
That trend continues with the latest peek at Alien: Earth. This time the networks have showcased the series as part of a “sizzle reel” for their upcoming summer slate. Alongside hits like The Bear, we catch a quick glimpse of Alien: Earth; just enough to get us excited.
This time, we have another ominous warning, a shot of some classic cryo-tubes opening, a slimy looking alien egg, and most exciting of all, the best shot of the Xenomorph so far.
In an official logline, Alien: Earth is described as follows:
“When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.”
The series comes to us from Fargo’s Noah Hawley, and takes place on Earth, roughly 70 years in the future. Sydney Chandler will star as Wendy, “a hybrid, a meta-human who has the brain and consciousness of a child but the body of an adult.” Scream 2 and Justified actor Timothy Olyphant will co-lead as Wendy’s as-yet-unnamed handler.
Alongside Chandler and Olyphant, Alien: Earth will also feature The Babadook’s Essie Davis, comedian and actor Adrian Edmondson, Ghost Stories actor Alex Lawther, and David Rysdahl, recently cast in SOULM8TE.
