“What happened to Katie… I mean, what really happened to her?”
We’ve less than two months to go until Lee Cronin’s The Mummy stalks into theatres, so, it’s about time we get a full trailer, don’t you think?
In the newly released clip, we get a much better look at the film and how the events will unfold. To say Cronin has taken a unique approach to a Mummy movie is quite the understatement.
We meet a young family based in the middle east, and see their world turned upside-down by some life-changing good news. Having been missing for eight years, their daughter Katie has been found… alive.
In a particularly chilling sequence, we see the parents reunited with their daughter. Alarmingly, she hasn’t aged a day, but looks somewhat… decomposed.
Evoking notes of The Exorcist and Cronin’s previous work in Evil Dead Rise, Cronin’s approach to the Mummy mythos seems far from expected. Rather than the bandaged, slow-moving fiend, here we have a lithe young child looking quite zombie-esque.
At the movie’s core appears to be a mystery regarding Katie’s disappearance. Where has she been for eight years? Why was she found in a sarcophagus? And why is Katie just one in a long line of missing children?
It’s up to her journalist father to find out, before it’s too late for his family. Can he save his daughter’s soul?
After a rocky road, it appears Warner Bros. are happy with Cronin’s unique approach to The Mummy, as they begin to ramp up promotion.
Lee Cronin’s The Mummy stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, and Verónica Falcón. The movie will hit screens on April 17th 2026, and we’re undeniably curious to see how it performs.
