Corey Parker, best known to genre fans for his role in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, has died.
Parker was born in New York City on July 8th 1965, to actress Rochelle Natalie Parker and John David Haas.
After attending the High School of Performing Arts in New York, Parker began his professional acting career in 1983, with a role in As the World Turns.
His first feature role came the next year, with a co-lead in the Michael Winner home invasion horror movie Scream for Help. Although not a success at the time, the movie proved popular on the home video market, and has since become a cult classic.
In 1985, Parker appeared in the divisive horror sequel Friday the 13th: A New Beginning. Although his role was small, Parker is fondly remembered for his character’s quirky behaviour and foul mouth.
Parker would go on to appear in popular films such as 9 and a half weeks, Willy/Milly, Big Man on Campus, and White Palace.
Undoubtedly, Parker found his widest audience on television, appearing in regular roles on shows such as Thirtysomething, Flying Blind, Blue Skies, and The Love Boat: The Next Wave.
The actor also made guest or recurring appearances in shows such as Will & Grace, Nashville, and Touched by an Angel.
Parker moved away from acting in the early 2000’s, working as a prolific acting coach for over twenty-five years.
In recent years, Parker had begun appearing before the camera once again, and at the time of his death had just completed work on the horror film Demon Lake.
Corey Parker died on March 5th 2026 in Memphis, Tennessee. According to official sources, Parker had been unwell with cancer for some time. He was 60 years old.
