Blumhouse are set to continue their successful streak of PG-13 terror, as their highly anticipated adaption of the Five Nights at Freddy’s video game series earns its rating.

Touting “strong violent content and bloody images,” FNaF sounds the perfect treat for Halloween.

Telling the story of a single father wanting to make ends meet, the desperate young man takes a position at the rundown Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria as a night shift security guard. Soon he becomes aware of the joint’s animatronic mascots, who seem to have a mind of their own. As the blood begins to spill, it seems his young daughter is their ultimate target.

Easily one of Blumhouse’s most anticipated projects, Five Nights at Freddy’s spent a great deal of time in development hell. The project gained traction under the direction of Emma Tammi, who also penned the script alongside Seth Cuddeback and Scott Cawthon.

With an all-star cast including Josh Hutcherson, Matthew Lillard, Elizabeth Lail and Mary Stuart Masterson, FNaF looks set to recapture the neon thrills that have made the game series such a phenomenon.

To release simultaneously in theatres and Universal’s streaming service Peacock, something tells us Five Nights at Freddy’s won’t disappoint at the box-office despite the day-and-date release.

The movie is set to slash its way to audiences October 17th 2023, and the rating description has certainly created more waves of anticipation among fans. Strong violent content and bloody images sounds like the perfect way to begin your Halloween celebrations.
