FIRST TRAILER FOR “THE BRIDE” PUTS A QUIRKY SPIN ON A CLASSIC TALE

Posted on: October 4th, 2025

Warner Bros. are making a killing with genre related content right now… if you’ll forgive the pun. So, perhaps that’s why the studio is so eager to promote Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride.

The film, based on 1935’s classic The Bride of Frankenstein, isn’t due to hit theatres for another five and a half months, but this week we got our first teaser!

Steeped in the art-deco splendour of the 1930s, The Bride takes us to Chicago. Bored and alone, Frankenstein’s creation seeks to create a mate for himself… Although once she’s brought to life, she’s likely a little quirkier, and quite a bit nuttier than “Frank” imagined.

Looking like a whale of a time, the trailer makes it clear that the focal point of The Bride is the relationship between the two grotesque creations. This stands in stark contrast to the 1935 original, which only featured the briefest of interactions between the Monster and his bride, before their explosive demise.

We see the couple venture out, taking in the Chicago nightlife, and having the time of their lives in their own uniquely horrifying way. Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley look to have immersed themselves entirely into their roles, embodying each with their own unique personality traits. Gyllenhaal’s vision of a Frankenstein-like creation is much more animated and vocal than the days of a lumbering Boris Karloff, to be sure.

With reception to the first teaser being largely positive, The Bride has the potential to continue Warner Bros. impressive streak of horror success. However, we have quite some time to wait before we know exactly how this remake goes over.

Alongside Buckley and Bale, The Bride’s ensemble cast includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Annette Bening, Penelope Cruz, and Peter Sarsgaard.

The film is slated to hit theatres on March 6th 2026, and you can check out the first teaser below:
