Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!
Huh? Sorry, what’s that? Oh, only two times?
That’s right folks, thanks to the release of the very first teaser poster for perhaps one of the most anticipated sequels in cinema history, we now have an official title for Beetlejuice 2.
Titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, in an ode to the three-word chant used to summon the titular character, the new poster doesn’t give much else away.
We see Michael Keaton’s iconic character’s hands holding the ticket he was issued in purgatory at the end of the original. Instead of having the endless number used for laughs in the original scene, a portion of the numbers now include the sequel’s release date. Referencing the endless false starts the sequel has had, a tagline reads “The wait is over…”
35 years in the making, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will see the return of original actors Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara. All three will reprise their iconic roles from the 1989 cult classic.
Joining them will be a host of new characters, led by Jenna Ortega, who will play the daughter of Ryder’s Lydia Deetz. Joining Ortega, we have actors such as Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux, and Monica Bellucci, all in undisclosed roles.
Plot wise, little is known about the sequel, other than it will continue Beetlejuice’s pursuit of Ryder’s character. The iconic town and homestead from the original are also set to return, confirmed by set pictures we obtained last year.
With the promotion beginning, the hype for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will soon be at a fever pitch, with audiences craving that first trailer.
The film is set to hit screens on September 6th 2024, and is sure to dominate the box-office.
