The Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot is in full swing!
Now officially titled Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale, filming has been taking place in and around Los Angeles, California.
Excitingly, we have our first look at series star Sarah Michelle Gellar on the set and in character as Buffy Summers.
Gellar grabbed a great deal of attention as she stepped onto location in a glamourous, bright red dress. Paring it with a pair of pink high heels, fans were quick to note that Gellar looked particularly un-Buffy like.
True, the character of Buffy Summers has always favoured more practical clothing due to her vampire slaying duties, but we do have some insider info on the costume choice.
A reliable source tells us that when first introduced in New Sunnydale, Buffy will be working in finance. Seeking to escape her past, and echoing Season 3 of the original show, the character now goes by the name Anne.
Alongside our first look at shooting, further cast news has also emerged.
Following a slew of rumours last week, it has since been confirmed that I Know What You Did Last Summer star Chase Sui Wonders has joined the series. The news was confirmed by Sarah Michelle Gellar, who insisted the actress come aboard.
Merrin Dungey, best known for Alias and The King of Queens has boarded the cast as Ms. Laduca, a counsellor at New Sunnydale Academy. Alongside Dungey, newcomers Audrey Hsieh and Audrey Grace Marshall have been cast as classmates of Ryan Keira Armstrong’s lead Nova.
With filming underway, it appears Hulu have committed to a full series, not just the reported pilot episode. However, an official season order has not been made public yet.
