Following a rousing reception to their Cinema-Con presentation, it seems Sony Pictures a turning up the heat on their promotion for July’s I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel,
Now, we have our first look at what the legacy sequel has in store, with some brand-new images.
In the most intriguing of the stills, we get a look at some of the fresh faces this sequel will bring to the series. Staring down at something on the road, we can see Jonah Hauer-King, Sarah Pidgeon, Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline and Tyriq Withers. This is the closest look at our new cast we’ve gotten so far, however, we expect that’ll change soon.
In the two images that have gotten fans most excited, we see returning legacy stars Freddie Prinze Jr and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Prinze, sporting a thick beard, is seen outside what appears to be an ice-cream store. Hewitt is seen deep in conversation with someone, but it remains unknown who.
Alongside the images we have some words from Hewitt, giving further insight into what audiences can expect.
On being approached for the film, Hewitt spoke of the trepidation she felt reprising the role of Julie James after 27 years:
“I’ll be super honest, I had total anxiety for 48 hours before [filming] because I was like, ‘Can I do this? Am I going to pull this off?’ It’s a lot of pressure.”
However, Hewitt did elaborate on the joy she felt reuniting with Prinze, and had nothing but praise for her new generation of co-stars:
“It felt like a high school reunion! It felt like that moment where you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, I have butterflies in my stomach and my heart is beating really fast because I have not seen this person in 150 years and now, we’re back, here we are.’ ”
“This new cast is phenomenal,” Hewitt continues. “It’s for them to make it their own and for me to stand by like a proud mom and say, ‘It’s yours now, take it and run and enjoy.’ ”
So, with things gaining momentum for I Know What You Did Last Summer, can we expect the release of that Cinema-Con trailer soon? Fans are eager to see it, and so are we!
