“Heaven is here within our home…”
Having just moved to a new release date; Lionsgate have stepped up their promotional campaign for Alexandre Aja’s Never Let Go.
The dystopian horror tale stars Academy Award Winner Halle Berry as the vigilant mother of two sons in a post-apocalyptic world. With reptilian creatures stalking the landscape, Berry and her two children must remain tethered to a long rope to traverse the wilderness safely.
In the newly released clip, we get a better look at a darkness in Berry’s character that was only previously hinted at. Whereas the possibility of her character exaggerating the danger outside was only briefly touched on before, this time it appears to be the trailer’s primary focus.
Berry is seen forcing her children to recite a prayer, emphatically enforcing that home is the only place they will survive. Frantic edits show us a rather disturbing shot of Berry laughing, as her home erupts in flames… So, is there more to this thriller than we’ve been led to believe?
Thankfully, the trailer retains the mystery, meaning there’s still plenty to uncover when we take our seat at the theatre.
Never Let Go comes to us from Crawl’s Alexandre Aja, and is produced by Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy. Percy Daggs IV and Anthony B. Jenkins star alongside Berry, however no character names have been issued for Never Let Go as of this writing.
Never Let Go is set to premiere alongside Terrifier 3 at FantasticFest on September 19th 2024. The film will release theatrically one day later, September 20th, after previously occupying the September 27th slot.
