“Something bad is coming…”
We’re less than a month away from the premiere of HBO’s It prequel series, IT: Welcome to Derry.
In anticipation of the show, it appears Warner Bros. Television are pulling out all the stops, giving us a surprise third trailer!
Yet again, the clip reveals more plot elements to the show, ensuring that viewers won’t be confused come the October 26th premiere.
The most interesting nugget revealed this time is the inclusion of a military base close to Derry. Here, the authorities struggle to explain why at least twenty children’s corpses have been found over the last number of years.
This element of the town being aware that something ominous is haunting them is directly lifted from the Stephen King novel. Only briefly hinted at in previous adaptions, the adult population of the town choosing to ignore their high instance of gruesome happenings was vital to King’s book.
However, undoubtedly, the thing that has King and It fans raving about this final trailer is the reveal of Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise the Clown. Although we’ve known for months that Skarsgard would reprise the iconic role, the promotion for Welcome to Derry has been careful to keep the actor hidden. Now, we finally have a shot of the villain showcasing multiple sets of terrifyingly sharp teeth.
With the anticipation for IT: Welcome to Derry now reaching a palpable level, we have little doubt that the series will see successful numbers upon release.
IT: Welcome to Derry will air on both HBO and its streaming service Max simultaneously. Originally intended to be a streaming-original series, the property generated so much buzz that a traditional television launch was decided upon.
The show stars an ensemble cast including James Remar, Taylour Paige, Rudy Mancuso, Madeleine Stowe, and Chris Chalk among many others.
Alongside director Andy Muschietti, his wife Barbara will produce IT: Welcome to Derry, with Jason Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane serving as showrunners.
The series will premiere via both formats on October 26th 2025, just in time for Halloween!
