In the same week we learned of its official rating, Warner Bros. also gifted us with a third trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
Focusing primarily on Jenna Ortega’s character of Astrid, the final trailer gives us a better look at the events set to unfold in the film.
It seems Ortega’s character isn’t too thrilled about returning to her mother’s sleepy hometown for her grandfather’s funeral. The trailer’s opening shot hints at quite the dysfunctional relationship between mother and daughter, as Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz is listed as “Alleged Mom” in her daughter’s phone.
However, it looks as though Lydia is willing to do anything to save her daughter when she is sucked into the afterlife… including call upon Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice himself.
Several clips in the trailer hint towards the titular demon and Lydia working together, as she presses the troublemaker for his word that he’ll help her find her offspring.
Although, this is Beetlejuice after all, and it seems his kindness masks a dark motive, that of making Lydia his bride once and for all. Also in the mix are Justin Theroux as Lydia’s dumbfounded friend Rory, Monica Bellucci as a spirit seemingly upset with Beetlejuice, and Willem DaFoe as a bounty hunter on her tail.
Needless to say, the afterlife is very much alive in this zany sequel.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is set to make us scream with laughter on September 6th of this year, and you can check out the brand-new trailer below:
