Things have been relatively quiet on the Final Destination news front since it was confirmed that Freaks directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein would be handling the film. A tentative shoot date of July 2023 was briefly mentioned under the title Final Destination: Bloodlines, but so far, confirmation has yet to emerge that the film is before the cameras.
However, we have now gotten word from producer Craig Perry that the newest movie in the series will feature a particularly gruesome death in a tattoo/piercing parlour! Perry had this to say during an interview on the CineBinge YouTube channel:
“The take-home value of Final Destination is that it kind of ruins whatever you try to do. Going to the dentist, going to get a haircut. If it works out, there will be a lovely tattoo and piercing parlor sequence in Final Destination 6 that will really, really (get to viewers). “
Given that so many people are already squeamish about body modifications, having death himself haunt one such parlour could be one of the most uncomfortable things Final Destination has ever accomplished! What’s more, we can’t wait to see it.
This next instalment of the series will see the return of longtime producer Perry, but without his usual partner Warren Zide. Exciting fans further is that Guy Busick, co-writer of the most recent Scream offerings is penning the script from a story by recent Spiderman trilogy director Jon Watts. The talent pool for this upcoming entry is certainly impressive, and it is hoped that it will show in the final product.
Final Destination 6 will be released via Max, likely as a streaming original, but there is no word on a release date yet. We will keep you posted on that!
