Film4 FrightFest celebrates 10th year at Glasgow Film Festival with three World, two European and six UK premiere attractions
It’s that time of year again and it’s time for horror to head north to Glasgow as Frightfest takes place as a key strand of the Glasgow Film Festival for it’s amazing tenth anniversary. Bringing something special to celebrate the milestone the four horsemen of Frightfest have put together a truly terrifying line-up for 2015. Featuring eleven premieres that have never been seen in the UK before alongside a newly restore retrospective masterpiece.
Back in 2008 Frightfest unleashed the cult favourite [REC] onto its audience and this year sees the festival host the UK Premiere of the fourth installment of the [REC] franchise APOCALYPSE. As if that wasn’t exciting enough festival goers are in for the adrenaline fuelled zombie action comedy as Mad Max meets Dawn of the Dead with WYRMWOOD from director Kiah Roache-Turner. Joining them will be the bone chilling 70s inspired paranormal shockumentary, THE ATTICUS INSITUTE from the writer of ATM and Buried. Then from Belgium comes the euro manhunt thriller THE TREATMENT.
Three student filmmakers might have disappeared in the woods near Burkittsville, Maryland while shooting a documentary in 1994 but 2015 will see the World Premiere of WOODS MOVIE: The Making of the Blair Witch Project. The documentary will provide festival goers an in-depth perspective about the making of the found footage film that terrified the world.
Mischa Barton and Robert Knepper run around in an underground storage facility in the psychological thriller THE HOARDER. Meanwhile, Kate Beckinsale, Brendan Gleeson and Michael Caine star in ELIZA GRAVES, a film based on the short story from Edgar Allan Poe. Rounding up the line-up is Marcus Nispel’s THE ASYLUM and the instant cult classic THERE ARE MONSTERS from Jay Dahl that will guarantee to have the audience gripping tightly at their armrests.
Finally, this years Retrospective Premiere is non other than mario Bava’s BLOOD AND BLACK LACE.
