Things are about to get goopy as the world premiere of Breakthrough Entertainment and Black Fawn Films’ latest skin-crawler BITE is creeping exceedingly close.
Hot off the success of his previous two features, The Drownsman and Ejecta, director Chad Archibald turns his hand to the creature-feature/body-horror genre with Bite. Written by Jayme Laforest (Gods of Accident) and starring Elma Begovic, Annette Wozniak, Denise Yuen, Jordan Gray and Lawrene Denkers, Bite sees Casey (Begovic) – the bride to be – bitten by an unknown insect whilst on her hen party holiday in the Dominican Republic. After returning home with second thoughts, Casey tries to call off her wedding but before she’s able to, she starts exhibiting insect like traits. Between her physical transformation and her wedding anxiety, Casey succumbs to her new instincts and begins creating a hive that not only houses her translucent eggs, but feeds on the flesh of others. As her transformation becomes complete, Casey discovers that everything can change with a single bite.
Whilst the film is all set to premiere at Fantasia this July 29 (all sold out by the way), it has also already been confirmed to screen at Film4 FrightFest in London and Fantasy Film Fest in Germany so there’s really no escaping the infection. To celebrate the impending ickiness, we caught up with the film’s starlet Elma Begovic as she tells us how Chad Archibald truly gave her the opportunity to stand tall and proud behind her character:
