Is Escape Room going to be the next Saw franchise? It would well be, because a sequel to Adam Robitel’s (The Taking of Deborah Logan, Insidious: The Last Key) Saw-meets-Cube horror is on the way. We don’t have long to wait, because it is set to land in 2020 and Robitel will return to direct.
Escape Room did very well at the box office, resonating with audiences as it grossed a whopping $118.6 million on its $9 million budget. No wonder Sony want more of this money action.
Escape Room followed a group of people who agreed to an immersive escape room challenge that fast turned into a fight for survival. We’re expecting more of the same and it will be interesting to see how the sequel brings something new to the table.
