Ella Purnell (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children) has signed onto Zack Synder’s big-budget zombie movie Army of the Dead—and she’s not the only new addition to the cast. Ana de la Reguera (Cowboys & Aliens), Theo Rossi (Luke Cage, Cloverfield), and Huma Qureshi (Gangs of Wasseypur) will also star in the flick, which is slated to start filming in July.
They join the previously announced Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), who will play the father of Purnell’s character Kate.
Set in Las Vegas during a zombie outbreak, Army of the Dead will follow a group of mercenaries venturing into the quarantine zone in the hopes of pulling off an epic heist. In addition to directing the film, Syner co-wrote the script with Shay Hatten.
