Many wondered if it would ever happen… and now it seems there’s no going back. Just weeks after announcing its acquisition by Spyglass Media Group and a distribution deal with Tri-Star Pictures, Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving is before the cameras and has added a few names to the cast.
Starring alongside Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, and Milo Manhiem we now have a slew of names, most exciting among them is Gina Gershon.
Gershon has found her way into the hearts of cult cinema fans with roles in the legendary flop Showgirls and a co-starring role opposite Jennifer Tilly in the lesbian bank heist thriller Bound. Most recently Gershon has found favour with horror fans appearing in a murder-mystery themed episode of the Chucky television series. In the episode, Gershon played herself as she reteamed with Tilly to witness mysterious goings-on at the actress’ Hollywood estate.
Joining Gershon on the Thanksgiving cast roster are actor and comedian Tim Dillon and Suits star Rick Hoffman, whom Roth has previously worked with in 2006’s Hostel.
Thanksgiving will see Roth expand on the faux trailer he created for Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s double feature Grindhouse in 2007. Little is known about plot details or character breakdowns, but from said trailer we can glean that a serial killer is on the loose in a small Massachusetts town that’s very serious about Thanksgiving.
Currently without a release date, Thanksgiving will likely land on screens sometime in 2024. We will report any further developments as they arise.
