Downhill Director Making Chernobyl-Set Body Horror

Posted on: November 17th, 2016

Chilean horror specialist Patricio Valladares has announced that he is to start work on a body horror entitled Embryo, which is due to start filming next year.

The director of Hidden in the Woods and this year’s Downhill (which is yet to see a release in Valladares native Chile) says that the idea for the film was born at the UK premiere of Downhill at Frightfest, when an investor approached him, star Natalie Burn and writer Barry Keating. Little is known about the plot of Embryo, past the fact that it deals with the aftermath of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

Valladares and Keating are writing Embryo, and looking at a winter 2017 shoot in Kiev. Burn is already locked in to star. Valladares Pictures will produce alongside US-based 7 Heaven Productions.

Valladares recently completed work on his Robert Englund-starring chiller Nightworld, and aside from Embryo, currently has two other projects in development; Breath and Snowdevil, which are both scripted by Keating.
