It’s fair to say that Dominic Brunt has surprised both Emmerdale viewers and horror fans alike by breaking free of the Yorkshire Dales to make his own impressive and not insignificant mark on contemporary British horror. Following his grim 2013 directorial debut Before Dawn with vicious revenge thriller Bait in 2014, the soap star-turned-director is preparing for another potential festival favourite with his latest (and weirdest), Attack of the Adult Babies.
Brunt has put out this brief but unsettling clip from the film, which is set in the weird, weird world of paraphilic infantilism, also known as ‘adult baby syndrome’. In a secretive country manor, wealthy, high-powered businessmen come to live out their fantasies, wearing oversized nappies, crawling and crying, whilst being tended to by ‘nurses’. Their secret is about to come out however, when three intruders break into the house in search of a secret document.
A melting pot of tones and genres, the film employs animated sequences, courtesy of claymation maestro Lee Hardcastle, creator of The ABCs of Death segment T is for Toilet. It stars a host of British TV talent, including Andrew Dunn, Kate Coogan, Mica Proctor and Sally Dexter, as well as The Human Centipede II’s Laurence R. Harvey as one of the adult babies.
Attack of the Adult Babies was written and produced by Brunt’s wife and regular collaborator, Joanne Mitchell. It will be unleashed on festival audiences this year. God help us.
