Ahead of the release of the new The New Mutants trailer this month, director Josh Boone has revealed that Disney’s 20th Century Fox will be releasing his original cut of the film.
Boone made the claim on social media in response to a fan’s question about whether the film being released was the one he shot. “I wouldn’t be promoting it here if it wasn’t,” Boone wrote.
This news comes after reports that Boone would not be behind the camera for any reshoots, with producer Simon Kinberg supposedly responsible for helping to rework the film to make it “scarier” and to include Antonio Banderas. But since the movie was shelved for so long, there’s been plenty of time for rumours to fly, so it’s difficult to tell exactly what was true and what wasn’t.
The New Mutants follows five young mutants coming into their abilities who are being held in a secret facility against their will. Catch it when finally hits theatres on April 3rd, 2020.
