Released in 1985, Larry Cohen’s The Stuff has risen to cult status over the years—but enough is never enough! Lucky for us, a half-hour of never-before-scene footage has just been found.
“We made a remarkable discovery while looking through the 35mm reel of THE STUFF,” Denver Film, a nonprofit arthouse organisation based in Colorado, tweeted recently. “The print came from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences and is actually the Director’s Cut with 30 extra minutes of footage not found anywhere else.”
If you’ve never seen The Stuff, it centres around a delicious, mysterious goo that oozes from the earth. Marketed as the newest dessert sensation, the tasty treat rots more than teeth when zombie-like snackers who only want to consume more of the strange substance at any cost begin infesting the world. Fingers crossed that the director’s cut will be released soon!
