Aleksander Bach, the director of the upcoming video game adaptation of Hitman: Agent 47 is on-board to direct a film about an alien invasion, called Revoc. Summit Entertainment are behind the film with the producers of Warm Bodies, David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, producing.
With Independence Day 2 is looming on the horizon, so it is not surprising to see other studios jumping on the alien bandwagon. I love aliens – in films, obviously – and it takes a lot for me to give a thumbs-down to films involving extraterrestrials, because I have such a soft spot for them. However, there are definitely not enough AMAZING films about aliens out there, especially at the moment. There have been a few decent ones; Extraterrestrial and Alien Abduction were both quite good and surprisingly entertaining. District 9, of course, was great but I struggle to think of a ground-breaking, truly terrifying alien horror without thinking of well, Alien or Aliens. Let’s hope Aleksander Bach can surprise us.
