Peacock has placed a straight-to-series order for a small-screen adaptation of AfterShock’s Dead Day comic books.
The comic series, which was created by Ryan Parrott, follows an ensemble of characters as they navigate the annual “dead day,” the one night when the dead come back to complete unfinished business—be that to celebrate a night back on earth or to torment the living. Julie Plec (The Originals) and Kevin Williamson (Scream) will serve as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers on the adaptation, reuniting after creating The Vampire Diaries.
“We have been looking for a project to do together and Dead Day has all the ingredients we love as storytellers,” Plec and Williamson said in a statement. “Love, death, thrills, and tears.”
