Quite simply, Annabelle was a disappointment and we’re not afraid to say so. When compared to The Conjuring , which sparked the spin-off, it was a lacklustre, predictable affair with very few frights. Helming the sequel to a rubbish horror film is always going to be a bit of a challenge, but it’s great to see that David F. Sandberg is feeling positive.
Annabelle 2’s director had this to say, “I don’t think I can give too many details at this point but it’s not a continuation of the first film. That’s one of the many things that enticed me with the project, that it’s new story. Also the setting and the time period of this one is perfect for a horror movie.
The script is really good and I think that this is a sequel that will actually be better than the original. The ‘Godfather II’ of creepy doll movies as I like to call it.”
We know very little about the film, but we do know that the story will follow a nun who believes that her orphans are “becoming prey to an evil entity”. Will this have anything to do with the nun from The Conjuring 2? That’s the question!
