As we reported recently, Darren Lynn Bousman’s Twisted had been given an R rating by the MPA.
This came as quite a surprise to most outlets, as news on Bousman’s project had seemingly dried up since its 2024 production wrapped.
However, the reason for the reporting lull was that the movie had changed titles in the interim.
Upon hearing that Twisted had been rated, it was expected that the film would be releasing soon. However, we couldn’t have guessed just how soon Bousman’s latest project will be hitting screens.
Announced in a rather low-key fashion, Bousman confirmed via an Instagram post that Twisted will release on February 6th.
The accompanying post showed Terrifier star Lauren LaVera getting violently stabbed in the neck, as shown from a camera monitor. As well as confirming the release date, Bousman praised both the special effects team and LaVera, writing:
“Can I just profess my love, admiration and AWE of [Lauren Lavera]?!” Bousman wrote. “I can’t wait for you all to see this, and her in it! Also shout out to [Sven Granlund] and [Yazmin Granlund] for our practical effects!”
Alongside LaVera, Twisted stars several notable genre names, including A Quiet Place: Day One’s Djimon Hounsou, Longlegs standout Alicia Witt, and Jeepers Creepers star Gina Philips.
In the film:
“Two millennials make quick money by leasing incredible New York City apartments they don’t own to people who don’t know they are being scammed. The con works brilliantly until they run into an apartment owner with a dark secret, who flips the game on them.”
Twisted will be released via Paramount subsidiary Republic Pictures on February 6th, with a trailer expected to be released very soon, so watch this space!
