Netflix have announced that they will be renewing German supernatural drama Dark for a second season.
The atmospheric, mind-bending show began inviting comparisons to Stranger Things before it had even premiered due to its focus on missing children and a narrative twist that takes the setting from the present day back to the 1980s.
Louis Hofmann, Oliver Masucci, Karoline Eichhorn, and Jördis Triebel star in the series, which was created by acclaimed Swiss director Baran bo Odar and writer Jantje Friese, along with the producers of Oscar winner The Lives of Others.
Here’s the official synopsis:
The disappearance of two kids in the small German town of Winden opens abysses that turn the concept of time on its head. The question is not who has kidnapped the children… but when.
The first series of Dark is streaming on Netflix now. No word yet on when the second run of episodes will appear, but it would be wise to expect a little wait.
