Danny Elfman (Edward Scissorhands) is re-teaming with Tim Burton for the director’s latest project, Wednesday. The Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated composer will create the theme for the upcoming Netflix series, which centres on beloved character Wednesday Addams.
Working alongside Emmy-nominated composer Chris Bacon (Bates Motel), Elfman will also create themes and score episodes throughout the entire season of Wednesday. The series, which is described as “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy,” will follow Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorised the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago—all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.
Jenna Ortega (The Babysitter: Killer Queen) will play Wednesday, with Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones playing her parents, Gomez and Morticia Addams. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are writing and showrunning the series, with Burton directing.
