With many places banning large gatherings in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, several studios have pulled their films from the release schedule and numerous theatre chains have temporarily closed their doors. Now, television productions are following suit.
Starting Monday, March 16th, production on all scripted TV and films in the U.S. and Canada is grounded for at least two weeks. As a result, Netflix has paused filming the fourth season of Stranger Things, and AMC is temporarily shutting down production on Fear the Walking Dead.
Season 11 of The Walking Dead will also be delayed, though the writers’ room will remain open. In the meantime, the premiere of AMC’s new spin-off The Walking Dead: World Beyond is set for April 12th.
The parallels between the pandemic and these zombie shows certainly aren’t lost on us horror fans. Stay safe, SCREAM readers, and stave off the cabin fever by re-watching some of your favourite scary movies.
