It seems that Netflix has made Warner Bros an offer it can’t refuse, because the planned The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina adaptation has found a new home at Netflix. It was originally going to be developed over at the CW, taking Sabrina back to her dark routes as a companion series to Riverdale.
With Riverdale sitting nicely over at Netflix, it should not be surprising to learn that Sabrina will be landing there, too. Riverdale has become a guilty pleasure of mine, because the melodrama and twisting narrative is impossibly addictive.
Netflix has ordered a 2-season 20-episode run for Sabrina and the series is said to be in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, which sounds mighty exciting. The series will:
“See Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family, and the daylight world humans inhabit.”
Riverdale director Lee Aguirre-Sacasa will direct and executive produce the series, with Robert Aguirre-Sacasa serving as a writer and executive producer.
