Just last week, we reported that Camila Mendes had dropped out of Sony Pictures upcoming reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer. Citing scheduling conflicts, Mendes was apparently unable to fit the legacy sequel around her work on Masters of the Universe.
Ever the well-oiled machine, Hollywood has wasted no time in eyeing a replacement for the Riverdale actress, with Chase Sui Wonders said to be “in talks” to join the cast.
Wonders is best known to genre fans for her work in the 2022 slasher film Bodies, Bodies, Bodies. The actress also had a significant role in the critically lauded 2019 flick Daniel Isn’t Real, co-starring Halloween’s Miles Robbins.
Away from the genre, Wonders has appeared opposite Diane Kruger and Hank Azaria in Out of the Blue, and had a small role in Sophia Coppola’s On the Rocks.
If cast, I Know What You Did Last Summer could be a breakout role for Wonders, so we’ll be keeping a close eye on developments in the coming weeks.
I Know What You Did Last Summer is expected to hit theatres on July 18th 2025, coming to us from writer-director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Set to pick up where 1998’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer left off, original stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr are expected to return. Reliable sources are also reporting that Brandy Norwood has come aboard to reprise her role as Karla Wilson, however, this remains unconfirmed.
The legacy sequel will star Madelyn Cline, Jonah Hauer-King, and Sarah Pidgeon, but plot details remain closely guarded.
