The last time we updated readers on the status of IT: Chapter 2, it was to announce the casting of a couple supporting (yet integral) characters: Teach Grant will play the adult version of Henry Bowers (meaning he survived the plummet he took in IT: Chapter 1, a fact that comes as no surprise to those familiar with the source material).
Jess Weixler (immortalised for her brilliant yet cringe-inducing turn in Teeth) will play Audra Phillips, the wife of grown-up Bill Denbrough. Get ready for a love-triangle when Derry’s golden boy reunites with Bev after almost 3 decades.
To recap, the adult Losers Club will be played by Jessica Chastain (Bev), James McAvoy (Bill), Jay Ryan (Ben), Bill Hader (Richie), Isaiah Mustafa (Mike), Andy Bean (Stan), and James Ransone (Eddie). The kids who played the Losers Club in 2017 will return (appearing in flashbacks) as will Bill Skarsgård as the terrifying “Dancing Clown” Pennywise.
Today, we can announce that IT: Chapter 2 has officially gone into production. Principal photography has commenced in Toronto, Canada. Obviously, it’ll be a while until we get official images, not to mention posters and trailers; still, we’ll be keeping our ears to the ground in order to bring you additional IT: Chapter 2 news as details emerge. Stay tuned!
IT: Chapter 2 will arrive in US Theaters on September 6, 2019. In the meantime, check out the trailer and synopsis for IT: Chapter 1, directed by Andy Muschietti, below.
Seven young outcasts in Derry, Maine, are about to face their worst nightmare — an ancient, shape-shifting evil that emerges from the sewer every 27 years to prey on the town’s children. Banding together over the course of one horrifying summer, the friends must overcome their own personal fears to battle the murderous, bloodthirsty clown known as Pennywise.
