In our second Crystal Lake update, we now have more clarification as to the status of the project.

According to an official statement via X, Bryan Fuller has announced he has stepped down as showrunner for the series.
Fuller stated:
“For reasons beyond our control, A24 has elected to go a different way with the material. We hope the final product will be something Friday the 13th fans all over the world will enjoy.”

Despite the Hannibal creator exiting, sources close to the production insist things will move ahead. Friday the 13th writer Victor Miller remains aboard as a producer, as does Rob Barsamian of Friday the 13th: The Game.

However. Despite several proposed filming dates, we’re hearing that no significant writing or casting duties are underway. Fans can’t help but find this concerning…

A24 and Peacock remain silent on Crystal Lake, with no official word being issued since Scream creator Kevin Williamson was tapped to pen an episode last year.

Historically, silence is golden, but in the film business, silence is ominous.

So, after 14 years away from screens, it seems that little glimmer of hope that Friday the 13th will return is beginning to burn out.
