It’s time to brush up on your kung-fu dancing skills, as we’re one step closer to killer android M3GAN hitting screens again.
Blumhouse have confirmed with an unsettling video that the sequel has started shooting in New Zealand. In the short clip, we see M3GAN’s endoskeleton staring at the cameral quizzically.
The news of the sequel going before the cameras comes some weeks after M3GAN 2.0 moved to its third release date. 2025. Originally set to debut on January 17th, the movie was first pushed back four months to May 16th, before finally landing on June 27th.
The shuffling of release dates caused many M3GAN fans to worry that production was in trouble. However, now that cameras are rolling, we can assume it’s safe to put those fears to rest.
Along with the commencement of principal photography, we also learned of some new cast members joining the chaos. What We Do in the Shadows co-creator Jemaine Clement has joined the cast, alongside Pacific Rim: Uprising star Ivanna Sakhno, and Saturday Night Live alum Aristotle Athari.
They will join Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, and Jenna Davis, already confirmed to reprise their roles from the original. Director Gerard Johnstone will also return, alongside screenwriter Akela Cooper.
This news comes just weeks after we learned that the M3GAN universe is set to expand, with the announcement of a spin-off movie entitled SOULM8TE. The movie is set to release in 2026, perhaps setting up the possibility of a face-off movie in the future?
