Premium network EPIX has forged a new partnership with Blumhouse! According to the press release, Blumhouse Productions will develop and produce eight “elevated, standalone horror/genre-thriller movies” exclusively for EPIX, with Jason Blum serving as an executive producer. What’s more, we already know the first title on the slate: writer-director Alex McAulay’s A House of the Bayou.
Casting for the first film is already underway, and production will begin in late spring. The plot revolves around a troubled couple and their preteen daughter who, hoping to reconnect as a family, go on holiday to an isolated house in the Louisiana bayou. But when unexpected visitors arrive, their facade of family unity starts to unravel, as terrifying secrets come to light.
EPIX is eying a December 2021 release for A House of the Bayou. The other films under the partnership will premiere in 2022.
