After almost 50 years, Black Christmas star Olivia Hussey will reprise her iconic role as heroine Jess Bradford in fan short sequel It’s Me, Billy: Chapter 2.
The 2021 original short, It’s Me, Billy is the brain-child of Canadian filmmakers and horror genre superfans Dave McRae and Bruce Dale. Acting as a sequel to Bob Clark’s 1974 original, the short film follows the granddaughter of Hussey’s Jess Bradford as she is stalked in a similar manner.
Receiving universal acclaim upon its release, It’s Me, Billy drew the attention of multiple alumni involved with Clark’s original. This made the filmmaker’s plans for a sequel seem like a real possibility and now, it’s happening with the involvement of original cast members Olivia Hussey and Lynne Griffin.
In a statement regarding the developments, the filmmakers said the following:
“It’s Me, Billy (2021) was always designed to be the first part of a two-part story, hence the cliff-hanger ending. It was always our hope that we’d get a chance to complete our vision and bring this story to a conclusion. Now is that time. We are excited to invite horror fans from around the world to help us complete the final step of our journey, one that will continue to pay honour and respect to the incredible legacy of the original Black Christmas and everyone involved in the making of that film.”
It’s Me, Billy: Chapter 2 is described as follows:
“Hidden deep within the walls of Jess Bradford’s mansion lies the evidence that will exonerate her former boyfriend Peter Smythe and expose the real 1974 Bedford killers. Picking up immediately where chapter 1 ended, Sam and her grandmother, now trapped and alone, must fight back against the clutches of Christmas evil before they’re swallowed by its darkness.”
Every surviving cast member from the 2021 original will return alongside the legacy cast, including the infamous Billy and his mysterious kin Agnes. Chapter 2 will release in 2024 to mark the 50th anniversary of Black Christmas and you can help fund the film’s production process by heading over to the link below.
