Now that The Strangers Chapter 2 has taken its place, Saw XI has been officially pulled from the Lionsgate release roster.
As we recently reported, production on the highly anticipated sequel has stalled.
Despite Lionsgate being eager to follow up the huge success of 2023’s Saw X, it has been reported that the distribution company is unwilling to step between Saw XI’s feuding producers.
Although unnamed, it was recently leaked to the media that “greed and ego” has left Saw producers at loggerheads. Consequently, the project has been unable to progress since January 2024.
Following the revelations, fans and media outlets collectively declared that it was “game over” for the Saw franchise.
However, one key member of the series has spoken out amidst the turmoil… Billy the Puppet.
Jigsaw’s legendary mascot was so unnerved by the media coverage, that he issued a statement of his own via Lionsgate. Taking to a reliable media source, Billy instructed the distributor to say the following:
“I’ve seen the rumors. They say it’s Game Over. You all should know me better than that. The game is never over.”
Well, who are we to argue with such an icon? Perhaps Billy knows something we don’t?
Undoubtedly, we haven’t seen the last of Saw, or Billy. However, despite the puppet’s hopeful words, the fact remains that Saw XI has been pulled from the release calendar, and is dead in the water.
