Castle Rock is something it’s fair to say we’re all a little excited about. Set in the fictional Maine town featured in a number of Stephen King’s stories, the upcoming series tells an original story, but one intertwined with several of King’s. We know by now that It’s Bill Skarsgård will appear, along with Carrie’s Sissy Spacek and André Holland, Scott Glenn, Terry O’Quinn, Melanie Lynskey and Jane Levy.
Speaking to Rotten Tomatoes recently, Skarsgård noted that Castle Rock is: “…a completely separate thing than Pennywise and IT. The world is brand new. It’s Stephen King’s universe… these are places we’ve been familiarized with through his work. But the show is an original story in that world. The character is a lot of fun. He’s — it’s a really weird one.”
It has now been revealed that that “weird” character Skarsgård portrays is an inmate at Shawshank prison, the setting of The Shawshank Redemption but mentioned in any number of King’s other tales. While we do not know the name of the character, Flickering Myth reported that he is “…directly connected with André Holland’s Henry Deaver, a death-row attorney.”
The J.J. Abrams-produced Castle Rock comes from Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television. It will premiere on Hulu in 2018.
