Michael Dougherty’s 2015 horror fantasy Krampus sparked off a mini wave of films featuring the name of the European folkloric Christmas demon in their titles. One of the more interesting was James Klass’ UK production Mother Krampus, which took the tale of German ‘Christmas Witch’ Frau Perchta as its inspiration.
Released in the US as 12 Deaths of Christmas, the film now has a sequel on the way. Ahead of the film’s debut at Cannes, ITN Distribution has shared the first trailer, which you can view below. It looks cheap, but pretty grim.
Synopsis:
“It’s Christmas time in Cleveland, Ohio and four young ladies are on the verge of completing their mandatory thirty days of community service. With only one night to go, they are required to make a series of in-home visits to the older and less fortunate. Upon arriving at their final stop for the night, they become introduced to a pleasant older woman who graciously welcomes them into her home for the evening. However, as darkness falls and the cold settles in, they begin to realize that there is far more to their seemingly innocent host than meets the eye.”
Hopefully we’ll know a little more soon but right now, further info on the film remains elusive.
