Apartment 7A was announced by Paramount Pictures back in April. The project was confirmed to already be in post-production and has been guarded with an almost impenetrable level of secrecy. Many media outlets wondered why… Well, now we know. Apartment 7A is a prequel to Roman Polanski’s 1968 classic Rosemary’s Baby!
These details emerge from a recent test screening, during which the film performed positively. Ozark star Julia Garner is set to lead the film alongside The Lost Boys’ Dianne Wiest, both of whom were singled out for praise. Garner is described as “totally committed” to her role, delivering an “intense and clever” performance. Similarly, Wiest is said to be “diabolically hilarious in the film.
The movie is said to follow the life and strange events that befall a woman who died outside the Bramford apartment house before Rosemary and Guy Woodhouse moved in. Whether or not this lead character is one mentioned or seen in the original Rosemary’s Baby has not been made clear.
Alongside Garner and Wiest, Apartment 7A will also star Marli Siu and Rosy McEwen, with other cast names still being kept under wraps.
Produced by A Quiet Place director John Krasinski, Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Bryan Fuller and directed by Natalie Erika James, it is quite clear given the secrecy and the amount of talent involved that Paramount Pictures are putting a lot of faith behind this prequel.
Apartment 7A does not currently have a release date, but we will report any further developments as soon as they arise.
