It’s the news Scary Movie fans have been waiting for!
To great fanfare, it has been confirmed that Scary Movie legacy stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall will return for the series’ sixth entry.
Faris and Hall have both appeared in four of the five franchise outings, choosing to skip 2012’s Scary Movie 5. Their characters of Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks have survived many horror parody situations, including serial killers, ghosts, aliens, and cults… Or in the case of Hall’s character, not always survived.
Their involvement was foremost in the minds of fans upon the 2024 announcement of Scary Movie 6. When asked about the possibility, Faris and Hall voiced their willingness to return, but not without the other. Well, it seems dreams do come true!
Of their return, Hall and Faris said in a joint statement:
“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again).”
Scary Movie 6 is set to act as a franchise reboot, allegedly parodying the popular trend of horror movie legacy sequels.
To that end, The Wayans’ Brothers, the team behind the first two Scary Movie entries, have also returned to write, direct, and star.
Actor Dave Sheridan will also reprise his iconic role as Doofy, a beloved parody of David Arquette’s Scream persona Dewey. The actor’s parody of Scream villain Ghostface is also expected to return.
Further details are expected to emerge soon, as the project nears shooting this October. Unconfirmed reports suggest fired Scream star Melissa Barrera is aboard the project also.
Scary Movie 6 is currently set to hit screens on June 12th 2026 via Paramount Pictures and Miramax. Stay tuned for more updates.
