André Øvredal (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, The Autopsy of Jane Doe) is set to direct a new film about Dracula for Amblin Pictures.
Titled The Last Voyage of the Demeter, the film was originally written in 2002 by Bragi Schut (Escape Room, Season of the Witch). Numerous directors have been attached to the project over the years, including David Slade, Neil Marshall, and Robert Schwentke.
In Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula, the eponymous vampire is transported from Transylvania to London on a ship named the Demeter. The film will tell the tale of that devastating journey, during which all but one of the crew are slaughtered.
