FX is working on an Alien TV series that blends the horror of the first movie with the action of its beloved sequel, Aliens—but don’t expect to see it anytime soon. Deadline notes that “Noah Hawley has delivered all of the scripts for his series based on the Sigourney Weaver feature film and shooting will begin next year.”
The first Alien story to be set on earth, the series will take place decades before the events of the 1979 original film. Sigourney Weaver will not appear in the show, nor will any of the characters from Alien, other than the creature itself. Ridley Scott is producing under his Scott Free banner.
FX chief John Landgraf has previously teased that the Alien series may debut in 2023. Watch this space for more updates as production draws nearer.
