With Adam Wingard’s Death Note now just two months away, the You’re Next/Blair Witch director has shared the official poster for his Netflix production.
An adaptation of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata’s celebrated Manga, Death Note stars Paper Towns’ Nat Wolff as student Light Turner (Yagami in the comic), who finds a mysterious notebook that grants him control over the fates of others. The Nice Guys’ Margaret Qualley and Keith Stanfield (Straight Outta Compton, The Purge: Anarchy) co-star in the film along with Willem Dafoe.
Synopsis:
‘Death Note’ follows a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realising it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone’s name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life.
Death Note was produced by Roy Lee (The Ring, Blair Witch), Dan Lin (The Lego Movie, Sherlock Holmes), Jason Hoffs (Edge of Tomorrow), and Masi Oka (TV’s Heroes Reborn). It was shot last summer in Vancouver, and will premiere on Netflix on August 25th.
