A24 and Peacock’s small-screen adaption/prequel to Friday the 13th just seemed to hit one stumbling block after another.
With the exit of Bryan Fuller and Kevin Williamson as showrunner and writer, the project looked doomed.
The last we heard of the project was that Black Sails producer Brad Caleb Kane had stepped in as showrunner. Whilst this was promising news, it was quite some time ago.
Now, we finally have an announcement to get excited for!
According to film critic Jeffrey Sneider, Dead to Me and Scooby Doo star Linda Cardellini is “in talks” to star in Crystal Lake.
According to Sneider, who has been a reliable source on all things Crystal Lake, Cardellini is being eyed for the pivotal role of Pamela Voorhees.
Memorably played by Betsy Palmer in the film series, the role of Jason’s mother was previously linked to Charlize Theron for television. However, this news only broke after Bryan Fuller’s departure, as part of his vision.
Cardellini’s involvement is a considerable step forward for the troubled project, still, nothing is set in stone.
Friday the 13th has been plagued with legal battles and stops and stars for years now. So, although this news is encouraging, Crystal Lake is not out of the woods yet…
