A24 has teases the next horror film for Hereditary director Ari Aster, which they plan to release later this year. That’s right, in a mere few months we’ll be able to see what new horrific delights Aster can serve us. Am I excited? Hell yes I am and I hope you are too.
A24 took to Twitter to deliver the tease and you can check it out here. Titled Midsommar, the film has been described as a Scandinavian folk horror film and will deal with a pagan cult.
Synopsis:
Pugh and Reynor will play a couple that travels to Sweden to visit their friend’s rural hometown for its fabled mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.
Alongside A Quiet Place, Hereditary was one of the best horror films of last year and was propelled by a brilliant performance from Toni Colette. The cast has not yet been announced for Midsommar, but Aster has already proven he can draw out something spectacular from his actors.
Look out for Midsommar later this year.
