We’ve had a lot of updates on the highly anticipated 28 Years Later over the last several weeks. A distributor was confirmed, as was a primary cast, and even a director for the sequel… However, through it all, one thing was missing… Fans had no idea when the film would release. Well, hold on to your hats folks, now we have a definite date!
In the space of a year, 28 Years Later has evolved from a throwaway comment by screenwriter Alex Garland to an unstoppable entity, moving full-steam-ahead.
Danny Boyle will return to direct, with the film finding its home at Sony Pictures. The studio won a fierce bidding war to win the right to finance a brand-new trilogy of films earlier this year.
And just a few weeks ago, the primary 28 Years Later cast was announced. Killing Eve star Jodie Comer will head the project, alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, and Jack O’Connell.
All the pieces are rapidly coming together, and now we have one more to slot into place… 28 Years Later will release on June 20th 2025!
In just over one year’s time, one of the most anticipated horror events in years will come to pass! Are you excited?
Plot details are remaining a closely shielded secret, as is the extent of original star Cillian Murphy’s involvement. The Oscar winner will serve as a producer on the project, but has remained coy on whether he’ll appear in the film.
So, with all systems go, now we count down the days until June 20th 2025.
