We learned last week that Warner Bros. have moved Zach Cregger’s Weapons up to a coveted August debut.
This speaks of the studio’s great faith in the film, Cregger’s first film since the critically acclaimed Barbarian in 2022.
With that release date mere months away, we anticipated more info on the highly guarded project would begin to drop soon… And we were right!
We can confirm that Weapons has bagged an “R” rating from the MPA. According to their official brief, the movie contains:
“Strong bloody violence and grisly images, language throughout, some sexual content and drug use.”
Furthermore, whilst plot details for Weapons have been kept strictly under wraps, we now have an official logline.
According to the MPA:
“The film revolves around multi-related plots marked by the disappearance of school kids in the middle of the night, police corruption, generational trauma, witchcraft, blood rituals, and religious abuse in a small Florida community.”
This is the most we’ve learned about the movie’s plot since its 2023 announcement.
With a summer release date secured, Warner Bros. are undoubtedly hoping for big things from Weapons, but will this horror epic deliver?
The movie stars Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Amy Madigan, and Austin Abrams.
Weapons will debut theatrically on August 8th 2026, with the movie’s promotional campaign expected to commence soon.
