News about a reboot of the classic sci-fi television series The X-Files has been sparse of late.
What we did know is that Sinners filmmaker Ryan Coogler is at the helm, having landed a pitch following the enormous success of that film.
Now, a plethora of new information on the reboot has emerged, following the news that Hulu have greenlit a pilot for the show.
According to an official logline, Coogler’s reboot will follow:
“Two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents that form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.”
According to official sources, The Woman in the Yard star Danielle Deadwyler is set to play one of the agents.
Jennifer Yale, producer of See and The Copenhagen Test, will act as showrunner, with X-Files creator Chris Carter aboard as an executive producer.
It is currently unknown if original X-Files stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny will return to their iconic roles as agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder.
Of his reboot, Coogler recently said:
“I’ve been excited about that for a long time and I’m fired up to get back to it. Some of those episodes, if we do our jobs right, will be really fucking scary. We’re going to try to make something really great, and make something for the real X-Files fans and maybe find some new ones.”
Hopefully we’ll hear more about this project soon, so stay tuned!
